Our very own worship leader, Chris Sligh, was featured on last night's episode of American Idol! In case you missed it, Chris wowed the judges with his rendition of "Kiss From A Rose". Paula Abdul was so excited that she jumped out of her chair at the end of the song! It's great to see the rest of America experience a little of what we get to see every Sunday. We are extremely proud of Chris and cannot wait to see what happens in Hollywood!
Chris -- you wouldn't know me from Adam, but I sang behind you several times at SouthSide and used to be the manager at Carpenter's Cellar several years ago. Also both my daughters were in the youth group and sang with your leadership at Southside for awhile. I have since moved to Virginia and miss Greenville VERY much. It was a blessing to me and my family to see a "GOOOD GUY" making it big on Idol the other night. We will pray for God's favor in your adventure. Do Greenville proud, and know that your support reaches much further!!!

Is the industry going to welcome a SOLD OUT CHRISTIAN? Is it possible to BE A FOLLOWER OF CHRIST in this environment?

daniel, shadrach, meshach, abednego, paul, peter, moses, david - quite a great list of people who lived for God in some very anti-God environments.
it's a question of which is going to influence the other... is chris going to hold to who he is and make the environment change for him, or is the environment going to change him?
i say "more power to ya, chris" - what a tremendous opportunity for Christians to stand for something other than what we DON'T do. finally someone is standing on a VERY public stage and showing that Christian isn't synonymous with dork.
yay.
