first wednesday family worship

Wednesday, May 2nd is our monthly first wednesday worship service but this month we're kicking it up a notch...with the beautiful weather, we're taking it to the courtyard and will have a cookout ($2.00/per person) with burgers, dogs and all the trimmings beginning at 6:00 followed by extended acoustic worship outside at 7:00.  Come and hang out, make new friends, catch up with old ones or just enjoy a great evening out!  (Small group leadership huddle will still eat and meet from 5:30/6-7 in the regular place)

Students Rock the Block

The student ministry kicked off our Grand Opening weekend with an Irmo sized event in the parking lot of our new facility!  The heat was intense but the worship was refreshing as our 7th - 12th graders launched ministry at the new site.  As soon as the school is able to clear space for them, they'll resume Sunday morning service inside at 11:00 a.m.  Check the student blog for updates until then!

PEGGY LEE CHAPMAN

Small_group_leaders_015

This may be a new face for many but Peggy Lee has been attending Seacoast-Irmo for about a year and serves in the Children’s Ministry.  She is a gifted concert pianist and has previously worked as a children’s music teacher.  Peggy Lee works at Columbia International University which is a tremendous blessing to her as she has served God in the mission field for many years.  Quiet and sweet, she would love to share with you some very interesting places she’s been and things she’s done if you ask her!  Find out for yourself why we think this particular lady is a volunteer that we think is worth getting to know!

Artist Spot-light

This week in the “Artist Spot-light” I would like to introduce you to our band director Bryan Jordan.

Bryan_jordan_1 Bryan works as a sales rep for Sims Music. He specializes in keyboards, guitars and computer recording programs. He is married to Vickie and has 3 children; Brandon, Ashley and Aubrey. Bryan loves to work with the Boy Scouts of America beside his son Brandon. Bryan grew up in South Carolina and attended Irmo High School. He spent some time in Charleston, but most of the time he has lived in the Columbia area. He’s a real “Carolina man”. BTW, his other nickname is "worldbook"...ask him about it!

Bryan was the 1st musician to join the Seacoast Irmo band almost 3 years ago. Bryan plays electric guitar in the band as well as overseeing the production side of the music team. He works with the other musicians to create the sound and style of Seacoast Irmo. He keeps us all on the same track and at the same time helps me arrange the songs we do in a way that they convey the message each song carries.

My journey began with Bryan some 6 years ago when he ran sound and played bass for me at another church I served at here in Columbia. Bryan is my right arm! He allows me to concentrate on being the Campus pastor/worship leader and not on charts, arrangements and all the other stuff it takes to run a worship band. More than that, Bryan is my friend and I couldn’t do this without him.

We love you, Bryan… you ROCK!

Winter Jam - BIG GROUP!!

Here's information from Donna Dupre on getting their small group and any others together Friday night 02/24 at the Colonial Center for WINTER JAM:

About the concert on Friday: If you plan to come and want to sit together, we will meet outside of the Colonial Center (entrance at the Lincoln & Greene Streets side) at 6:00pm. If you are not there by 6:10pm, Jeff and I will go in and try to reserve a row. Please email me back and let me know if you plan to attend. That way, we will know how many seats to save. If we go on in, you can call Jeff’s cell phone, 465-0132, to find out our section, row and seats.

This is NOT limited to our group, if you want to bring a date, a friend, a heathen friend, etc., that would be great. We just need a head count for seating.

Indescribable, Blessed Be the Name, Forever..... Do those songs seem familiar?  They were to many of the people that went to the Chris Tomlin and Matt Redman Concert. The word "concert" doesn't seem adequate to describe the indescribable worship experience we had. As some of the most gifted worship artists of our time led worship, the presence of God was definatly in the house. As the whole church body came together under one roof, not just to see those famous voices or people, but to worship God and to praise him for indescribable Love!

As the Church body gathered together to listen to the Passion founder - Louie Giglio, the crowd really responded to his interpretation of Gods word and described His awesomeness through His creation. As one of the singles said, "man, it would be heard to be a non-believer and still not believe after that message."

As usual God really showed His presence at the concert by not only speaking through Louie, but through unified worship, praising Jesus for the ultimate sacrifice He made.

Christmas Eve Courtyard Celebration

....Jesus, what a wonderful child, holy, meek and mild....

All who were there and stayed until the end of our glorious celebration of singing, cider, children's stories, cookies, drama, film clips, bands, candy canes and all left the theater rockin to the song that brought the house down!!!

We began around 4 o'clock in front of the theater with fresh cookies (donated by Atlanta Bread), hot cocoa, cider and coffee.  About 4:30, our adult singers truly blessed us with an oh, so fun assortment of songs which I'd list except I don't know how to spell the Hawaiian version of Merry Christmas....Melikilalikimaka..?????  Anywho....LOTS OF FUN!!!  At 5:00 our preschoolers started us out with a "whopping" rendition of Joy to the World!  SO CUTE!!!  They were followed by two songs from our elementary kids!

At 6(ish) we went inside the theater and began a whole new celebration that was great....(if you snapped some good pictures, comment and I'll post them!)  Thank you so much Pastor Jeff and Melanie for leading such a tremendous celebration where everyone was able to participate and offer up our very best to our King on this Christmas Eve with our family!  We love you!!!  Merry Christmas all!
