iCare Project

What an awesome expression of love was poured out on the hearts of two special ladies this past weekend as Irmo launched the iCare Project. I know they will never be the same because of the service of 25 men, women and children this past Saturday.

Serving others is at the heart of the message of Jesus. This coming Thursday is the day when the church celebrates the last supper Jesus spent with His disciples . During that celebration, Jesus did the most amazing thing when he kneeled down and washed the disciples feet. What he did that day has echoed down the halls of time to send a message to all His followers that even GOD feels drawn to serve others. He didn't have to do it, but it was in His heart to serve others. Jesus said it like this in Mark 10

43  ...Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."
I thank those of you who participated for following the example of Jesus by serving others unselfishly this past Saturday. Let me share just a few lines from emails I have received from these ladies.
Dear Pastor Jeff,
Thank you and your wonderful members ,for the blessing you give to my family and me. We look forward to visiting your church.
Mrs. Betty

Dear iCare Team,
I have been involved in ministry for nearly 30 years  and never have I had anything like this happen and I am so grateful to the iCare Team and to you as our Pastor for doing this for us.  I learned that sometimes I just need help and this is one of those times. I also felt so loved and cared for--sometimes when you are single you feel like if you don't do things for yourself, they won't get done and that can be physically and emotionally exhausting. Thank you iCare team!

Drop & Shop

122596283122209623 122211775_2 122212227_3 122589547 Over 100 volunteers came out to serve the Irmo community on a Sunday and Wednesday in December.  The sea of red t-shirts was quite impressive as men and women showed up to wrap presents and provide a fun night out for kids!  It's hard to say who had more fun as new people to Seacoast were able to connect through serving and brush up on their foosball skills at the same time!
Although we were able to send home about 2,000 invites through the children in 3 local elementary schools, you can't beat the impact of the personal evangelism plan!  Coworkers, neighbors and friends of our campus dropped their children off and took tours of our facility with promises to come back after seeing the wide smiles on their children's faces!

A Beautiful Day

100_0073_2 Saturday, March 31st was a beautiful day.  The sun was shining.  At noon, it was in the mid seventies.  Elbow grease burned off all hot dog calories.  And children, students and all varieties of adults came out, 70 strong, banded together and did an incredible thing.  For 4 hours, we greeted cars, checked their lights, fluids, wipers, horns, tires and washed the yellow layer of spring off the exterior.  Wipers and bulbs were replaced, fluids topped off, car seats tightened up and tires were inflated properly.  Thanks to generous sponsors, we were able to give free oil change certificates to people in need.  Children received balloons, hot dogs, playground time and free McDonalds ice cream coupons.  People who wanted to talk were heard.  If you ask any of those who came, the best part was how hard we worked to refuse donations.  The biggest impact we made was that we didn't expect anything in return.   The people we served were very diverse.  They were greatful for our gift.  It's hard to explain, but we're the ones who received that day.

Our Lives Have Been Changed

The Irmo Campus met a man at our first Newcomers in our new location in September.  A great smile and lots of enthusiasm, he jumped right in to serve and lead.  The vision of our parking team is one he got.  Checking in for the bright orange vest each week and orange baton, he headed straight for the curb to welcome members and guests. But there's more.  He is a man who understands and embraces all aspects of Worship, Connect, Grow, Serve and Share.  He attends services every weekend, sometimes twice, is in a small group, attends healing school, serves every week, every chance he gets and has been there with sleeves rolled up to share at our Fall Festival and to reach out to others in special times of need.  This man truly has given of himself wholeheartedly to the Irmo Campus.

This Friday, February 9th, Chuck Lanham will trade his orange vest in for a little while and head back to Iraq for 18 months.  He will continue to give all of himself, not just for our spiritual growth but for our freedom and the freedom of others who have far less.  He takes with him plans to begin a small group and he takes with him our hearts, love and prayers.  He is our family now.  And we will never be the same.

PEGGY LEE CHAPMAN

Small_group_leaders_015

This may be a new face for many but Peggy Lee has been attending Seacoast-Irmo for about a year and serves in the Children’s Ministry.  She is a gifted concert pianist and has previously worked as a children’s music teacher.  Peggy Lee works at Columbia International University which is a tremendous blessing to her as she has served God in the mission field for many years.  Quiet and sweet, she would love to share with you some very interesting places she’s been and things she’s done if you ask her!  Find out for yourself why we think this particular lady is a volunteer that we think is worth getting to know!
