Not So Small Group Mixes it Up!

Small_group_pics_150 The (not so) small group that Jay and Martha Stew...I mean, Tonya Hayes have for young families got together to work on their 40 Days of Community Missions Project.

They pre-sold over 300 jars of dry ingredients for chocolate chip cookies and raised over $1000 profit to donate to Missions work.  Small_group_pics_145Small_group_pics_148Small_group_pics_146_1

On Sunday afternoon, the entire group gathered along with Pastor Jeff and Melanie to create a cookie factory in the Hayes' garage.

It was fun for the entire family as shown here by Bryson and Garrett!

Was Jay in charge of ribbons and bows or is he the forklift here???

Great job guys and what a blessing you guys were to your missions project as well as the memories you've created for your own children that will last a lifetime!

$42.70!!!

  100_0027

100_0030 At the heart of our 40 Days missions projects was the 3, 4 and 5 year olds who chose to help the children who lost their homes when Hurricane Katrina came.  Given a plastic treasure chest and three weeks, the children earned a whopping $42.70 by doing special jobs around the house!  They were so excited to bring their offerings in and do something nice for someone else together....hmmm sounds like something we all just learned.....

Small Group Project - We Think...

Here are some photos from the missions project for the Wolfe Small Group. We're pretty sure they started by trying to help clean someone's yard. We're just not sure what happened from that point on...

40DoC - Sistercare

Sistercare_1_1 "This is our first picture of our project. We painted and decorated two bathrooms and started landscaping yesterday at SisterCare. We had so much fun and are so excited about future projects." Thanks, Ladies - looks like you had a wonderful time, and it's neat to see so many Seacoasters working around the community to help out where their gifts can meet the needs.

More photos and stories of Small Group projects to come!

Second Week

We're well into the second week of the 40 Days of Community adventure. Here's a couple of points for anyone playing along!

  • NO FIRST WEDNESDAY THIS MONTH, and the November 1st Wednesday will be moved to later in the month so that none of the Wednesday night groups will be displaced.
  • Today's reading is DAY 8 - still reading? how's the book? taking notes?
  • Have you connected with a Small Group yet? Go to the Small Group page, enter "Irmo" as the campus, and find a group that meets when you can attend.
  • ALSO, Special BAPTISM SERVICE @ Lake Murray - Sunday October 16th. Watch this space or email Angela Peterson for details/information

Leave your thoughts on our first and second week. Remember, we're better together, and this adventure is just bringing that out even more.

First Week

Lots of stories are pouring back into the office from Small Group Leaders and Hosts who are excited about what's happening in the newly formed and kicked-off small groups around town. Here's a spot for YOUR TURN: if you've been to a small group this week, comment below and let us know how it went. Is it a new group, or a continuation of an existing group? Meeting new people? Meeting non-Seacoasters? Share the wealth of your stories with the rest of us. If we get enough, subsequent posts will include some of your soundbites on the main blog page later on.
